Month in Photos - January 2012

I'm so excited to be participating in this year's Month in Photos. Rebecca of simple as that has created a wonderful new template for 2012. You can download it here.

Month in Photos is a fabulous way to record your photo memories each month and at the end of 2012, you will have a year's worth of memories to reflect upon. My kids and I love looking at the scrapbook from last year.

Here is my collage for January.



The template is 12x12, but I haven't decided if I will keep it at 12x12 or size it down to 8x8. But what I do plan to do is have a blank white sheet of cardstock on the opposite page of the collage and add my journaling.

Then at the end of each month, I am going to print out the collage and journaling and slip them into the page protectors of a scrapbook album.

You could also replace one of the photo squares and add journaling in place of that spot each month. I contemplated doing that, but I usually have lots to say, so I opted to add journaling on a separate blank page.

Here is an example of what I mean about replacing a photo with journaling -



I think it looks great with the journaling replacing a photo in the template too. I may have to do that for some of the months when I don't have as much to say...but that will probably be a rare occasion when it comes to scrapbooking!

Or for a month that I have lots of photos, I can use a mirror image of the template to add a second page of photos and replace some of the photo spots with journaling.

A Month In Photos - June

June was such a busy month with Father's Day, family birthdays, and end of school activities. It's hard to believe that half the year is over already!

A Month in Photos - May

I have to admit that May was a total blur. Thank goodness for photos or I wouldn't even remember what we did! :)

We had a few sunny days here and there, so we had to take advantage of those days. Especially with trips to the beach digging in the sand and chasing geese.

This month was also haircuts for the boys which they love, only because they get a lollipop when they are done! :))

A Month in Photos - April

I didn't take as many photos as I would have liked to have in April. But the photos I did take, I absolutely love. They totally highlight the month. The weather was pretty cool with clouds and rain so we had to take advantage of the sunshine on the days that the sun actually came out.

I really love this month's layout with page 2 being totally filled with photos. I love the enlarged photo showing the boys so concentrated on searching for, eek, bugs. :)

A Month in Photos - March

I love working on my 'month in photos'. I can't wait until the end of the year when I have twelve of these in my album. And I can't wait until a few months, a year, and a few years down the road when I can look back on all of these wonderful memories.

A Month in Photos - January

I am participating in Rebecca Cooper's a month in photos where each month you create a photo collage of the pictures that you have taken that month.

I am so excited about completing my January page. This month I created a single page layout, but I am thinking for some of the subsequent months I may do a double page layout so that I can include more photos and journaling.

I can't wait until the end of the year when I can look back through all of the memories that the months have brought.

A Month In Photos

I wanted to embark in Project 365 in 2011. This is taking a photo a day, every day, for the whole year. I tried it last year and started off good, but then I would find myself forgetting a day here and there. Then it started to feel like I had an obligation to pick up my camera and take a picture. This took the creativity out of my photo taking. And I didn't like that.

I recently came across a wonderful solution to this from talented photographer Rebecca Cooper. She calls it a month in photos. It is a scaled down version of project 365 where each month you take as many photos as you would like and then at the end of the month create a photo collage based on those photos. No pressure, no obligation. I absolutely love this solution to Project 365!

Rebecca generously created some templates for you to make a photo collage each month. Just go to the "a month in photos" link above.

Being a scrapbooker, I wanted to include some journaling to go along with the pictures. So I created a 12x12 page, resized Rebecca`s templates slightly so that the top half of the page will be pictures and the bottom half journaling.

I'm so excited to be doing this! I haven't had too much time to scrapbook lately, being busy with every day life and my Etsy shop, so this is the perfect solution for me to remember those precious memories!

Here is an example of the 12x12 page. I may still change it up a bit. The black boxes are where the photos will be and the white space at the bottom is where the journaling will be.
