Inspiration Sunday - Teacher Appreciation DIY Gifts (Part 2)
Wow, I can't believe that it is the last Sunday in May. Three more days until June 1 and less than a month left of school!
Here are a few more fun do-it-yourself "Teacher Appreciation DIY Gifts (Part 2)". If you missed Part 1, you can read it here.
Chalkboard Pot & Scrapbook Paper Seed Packets
This is so cute. I love the idea of chalkboard paint, not only because it is so schoolish (is that a word?), but because you can use some chalk to write the name of the plant/herb on the pot. Erase and do it again! So cool!
Monogram Bookmark
I love these ribbon bookmarks. With all the gorgeous ribbon that is available, you would be able to make some beautiful ones!
Milk + Cookie Favor Printables
This is so sweet! Who wouldn't want to find some homemade, delicious cookies in a milk carton? Yum! :)
Teacher's Apple
I love this homemade gift basket full of goodies. And I'm sure any teacher would appreciate it too.
Crayon Initial
This is altogether so fantastic! Who knew you could break up crayons and make a totally cool monogram? Wow!
and here too -
Coffee Cozies
I love these. So pretty for the coffee or tea drinker! The elastic makes it's perfect for adjustability.

Inspiration Sunday - Teacher Appreciation DIY Gifts (Part 1)
It's hard to believe that next month, school will be done for the year. And with the end of school comes teacher appreciation gifts.
Instead of store bought, I thought this year I would find some things that my son and I could make for his teacher. I scoured the internet for ideas (what did we do in the days before the internet?) and these ones caught my eye.
Sticky Notebooks
This is such a fantastic way to make using sticky notes so fun!
Magnetic Memo Boards
This is such a cool idea. Instead of spray painting (that was used), you could probably adhere fabric to cover the metal burner.
Fabric Bookmarks
These are lovely and I have a big stash of fabric I can choose from to use.
Embellished Hand Sanitizer
This is so pretty and I know my son's class uses hand sanitizer. One of the times when I volunteered to help out in his class, he happened to be special helper that day and I watched as he got to pump some sanitizer into each of his classmate's hands. That was one of the jobs of being special helper for the day! :)
Box of Teacher Goodies
I think this may be a definite project! I love this idea! Now to think of some fun things to fill the box with.
Fabric Covered Composition Book
This is so gorgeous! I may just have to make one for myself!
Teacher Treats Candy Bar Cover
Hmmm, who wouldn't love to unwrap this lovely holder to reveal a yummy treat?
Reversible Tote Bag
This would be so pretty and I think his teacher would think so too! :)
Stay tuned for more Teacher Appreciation DIY Gifts next week, on Inspiration Sunday.

Inspiration Sunday - Playhouses
Last year we purchased a cedar playhouse for our backyard. The kids love it! Perfect for them to hide out in and take shelter from the sun on those hot summer days. Their home away from home! :) And I figure that when the kids outgrow it, it can be used as a tool shed. Just perfect.
I thought I would do an Inpsiration Sunday post on playhouses. It's amazing how elaborate some are. Like a real miniature house. Wow!
What little boy (or girl!) wouldn't love a pirate ship playhouse? So cool!
Red Beard's Revenge Pirate Ship Playhouse
I can't believe this is a playhouse. It looks like a real house. I love the deck on the upper level and the little deck on the lower level complete with adirondack chair.
American Craftsman
How fun is this? To climb up a ladder to get to the house and then to be able to go down a slide to get down. Love it! I also think that it is so neat to have a sandbox underneath the house. Nice and shady for those warm summer days!
Little Squirt Playhouse
I love this cape cod style playhouse with the sundeck on the side and all the beautiful flowers decorating the front yard.
Cotton Candy Manor Playhouse
This playhouse looks like a getaway retreat at a ski resort. All we need is the snow! :) I love all the windows and shutters and the window boxes for putting flowers in. Flowers in bloom would look so beautiful!
Tudor House
This is quite the colonial style playhouse mansion. Pretty elaborate!
Grand Portico Mansion Wood Playhouse
I love the landscaping surrounding this gorgeous playhouse. I love the faux chimney or maybe it's real? I wonder if I would be able to fit in this playhouse? Kind of my home away from home? :)
American Craftsman
I also happened upon this site called Project Playhouse where when you purchase a playhouse for your family it helps build a home for someone else. The "Playhouse Gallery" is quite amazing. It gives you an 'inside' look at the playhouse. They are miniature houses! Very cool!

Happy Mother's Day!
Wishing all Moms a wonderful Mother's Day today. May your day be filled with blessings of joy surrounded by the ones that you love!
Here are a few poems that I love.
M - O - T - H - E - R
"M" is for the million things she gave me,
"O" means only that she's growing old,
"T" is for the tears she shed to save me,
"H" is for her heart of purest gold;
"E" is for her eyes, with love-light shining,
"R" means right, and right she'll always be,
Put them all together, they spell "MOTHER"
A word that means the world to me.
Howard Johnson (c. 1915)
Mother's Love
Her love is like
an island in life's ocean,
vast and wide
A peaceful, quiet shelter
From the wind, the rain, the tide.
'Tis bound on the north by Hope,
By Patience on the West,
By tender Counsel on the South
And on the East by Rest.
Above it like a beacon light
Shine Faith, and Truth, and Prayer;
And thro' the changing scenes of life
I find a haven there.

Before I was a Mom
Before I was a Mom -
I slept as late as I wanted and never worried about how late I got into bed. I brushed my hair and my teeth everyday.
Before I was a Mom -
I cleaned my house each day. I never tripped over toys or forgot words to a lullaby. I didn't worry whether or not my plants were poisonous. I never thought about immunizations.
Before I was a Mom -
I had never been puked on - Pooped on - Spit on - Chewed on, or Peed on. I had complete control of my mind and My thoughts. I slept all night.
Before I was a Mom -
I never held down a screaming child so that doctors could do tests...or give shots. I never looked into teary eyes and cried. I never got gloriously happy over a simple grin. I never sat up late hours at night watching a baby sleep.
Before I was a Mom -
I never held a sleeping baby just because I didn't want to put it down. I never felt my heart break into a million pieces when I couldn't stop the hurt. I never knew that something so small could affect my life
so much. I never knew that I could love someone so much. I never knew I would love being a Mom.
Before I was a Mom -
I didn't know the feeling of having my heart outside my body. I didn't know how special it could feel to feed a hungry baby. I didn't know that bond between a mother and her child. I didn't know that something so small could make me feel so important.
Before I was a Mom -
I had never gotten up in the middle of the night every 10 minutes to make sure all was okay. I had never known The warmth, The joy, The love, The heartache, The wonderment or the satisfaction of being a Mom. I didn't know I was capable of feeling so much before I was a Mom.
Wonderful Mother
God made a wonderful mother,
A mother who never grows old;
He made her smile of the sunshine,
And He moulded her heart of pure gold;
In her eyes He placed bright shining stars,
In her cheeks fair roses you see;
God made a wonderful mother,
And He gave that dear mother to me.

A Month in Photos - April
I didn't take as many photos as I would have liked to have in April. But the photos I did take, I absolutely love. They totally highlight the month. The weather was pretty cool with clouds and rain so we had to take advantage of the sunshine on the days that the sun actually came out.
I really love this month's layout with page 2 being totally filled with photos. I love the enlarged photo showing the boys so concentrated on searching for, eek, bugs. :)
Here is the whole layout side-by-side.
Here is a closer view of page one.
